| Workshops Victoria Fenner is available to community groups, schools and radio stations to talk about audio art, its traditions, practices and technique. Here is a list of workshops she can do for your group, or she can customize a special presentation for you. Bringing the Story HomeMultimedia Skills for NGO workers -Ten years ago, if you wanted to collect sound and images to share back home, you'd have to hire a sound crew or a video crew at great expense to document your work overseas. And the opportunities to get the production to the public was limited to places like television or radio stations ... where competition for access to the airwaves was steep. But now, the tools of production are easily available. Audio and video equipment is within reach of the average person and organization. Computer production tools are now available to do production on a desktop computer. And the internet is fast becoming the place to listen to radio and television programs. (details) Electronic Words: New Ways of Presenting & Literature and Sound - Electronic Words is an an interactive workshop for writers and literary radio producers to explore new forms of audio literature. Particpants explore different approaches to presenting poetry, story, and other literary forms on radio, in recordings, or on the Internet. The workshops will explore technical considerations, and will help artists to develop a performance style which is most effective in an electronic medium. Hearing the Sound of our Soul - is a general interest workshop about bringing the outside in and the inside out. It's about finding the harmony, melody and rhythms between our inner and outer worlds. It will help you give voice to powerful self-expression through music, sound and meditation, and to transform the chaos of everyday life into peaceful joy. An Introduction to Audio Art - a 90 minute presentation featuring the works of some of North America's foremost sound artists. The workshop covers many types of audio art -- soundscape, creative documentary, new forms of electronic poetry. Designed to stretch the imagination about how sound can be used as personal expression. Bells and Whistles - a two day audio/radio art designed to encourage artists in all disciplines to use sound in creative non-traditional ways. Whether you're a visual artists using sound sculpture in a gallery, a sound poet who uses "found sound" in poetry readings or radio artists wanting to explore new ways of composing radio programs, this workshop will open your ears to new possibilities. Consists of an introduction to audio art, listening skills, soundwalks, and an introduction to audio technology. (Website for the original Bells & Whistles workshop) Full Moon Audio Art Camp - an exploration of sound in a retreat setting. Sponsor your own retreat - from a weekend to a week. Victoria can facilitate the retreat and organize all artistic and technical needs, including sourcing appropriate technology, selecting artists in residence and designing an artistic program that stretches the creative capacity of the participants. Victoria is also available as a sound artist in residence for radio stations, galleries, theatre companies and any other organization wanting to embark upon a dynamic exploration of sound. Whether for musical or artistic events, ecological groups, or as an added activity during conferences or meetings. a soundwalk is a wonderful way for participants to re-connect with the environment around them. Victoria's guide to soundwalking is here. Painting With Sound - a hands on audioart workshop developed for CFRC Radio in Kingston Ontario as part of their "Sound Travels" workshop series. (poster) Speaking Engagements - Victoria is also a frequent lecturer and has spoken on subjects related to sound and art at the University of Windsor, Brooklyn College, Ontario College of Art and Design, the University of Toronto, and Concordia University. She has been a presenter or panelist at many conferences including The National Campus and Community Radio Conference, the Third Coast Audio Festival, Sound Unbound, and events presented by New Adventures in Sound Art. | ||
